Student Services and Enrollment Management

The University of Oregon Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing is a part of the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management.  Strategic Communications and Marketing is responsible for all communications with prospective students, current students, parents and families of current and prospective students, and other target audiences for the purposes of student recruitment and ongoing enrollment.  The office includes a team of 20+ creative professionals, student staff and support staff.     

The Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management (SSEM) is a complex organization that includes the Office of Admissions, the SSEM Central Office, Continuing and Professional Education, SSEM Events, Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, Student Orientation Programs, Strategic Communications and Marketing, University Health Services, and University Housing.

The Associate Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management and Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing (AVP) develops and directs fiscal and resource strategies, plans, and policies for the SSEM division. The AVP focuses on strategic processes consistent with the university's enrollment goals and provides leadership in collaboration with other AVPs and Directors for the successful planning of resources, processes, and technology to ensure effective operations that affect all potential and enrolled students, as well as academic units.

Position Summary

The AVP provides consultation and advice to the Vice President, Associate Vice Presidents, Department Directors, and campus leadership regarding communications and marketing initiatives and strategies.  The AVP specifically oversees the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing and provides leadership, direction, and management oversight to the entire Strategic Communications and Marketing organization. Further, the AVP provides consultation and advice to campus administration and the schools and colleges related to prospective student recruitment and enrollment.

The AVP provides expertise to the creation, management, and implementation of student recruitment strategies for all new students and provides support, research, and analysis to support institutional policy initiatives related to student recruitment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The AVP serves alongside the other AVPs as a leader for the division of SSEM with strategic, division-wide perspective beyond the responsibility specific to Strategic Communications and Marketing.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ten years of experience in marketing, public relations, or communication
  • Experience supervising and developing professional staff
