Dr. Shelly Kerr is a psychologist and director of Counseling Services. Programs and services provided by Counseling Services include individual and group therapy; educational workshops; crisis intervention; community support after critical incidents; consultation to faculty, staff, parents and families, and students; and an after-hours professional support and crisis line. Counseling Services also has an APA-accredited doctoral internship program.

Prior to pursuing her doctorate in counseling psychology, Shelly worked in residence life at several universities. After earning her degree, she was a staff psychologist, clinical coordinator, and practicum coordinator at the Washington State University Counseling Services. She came to the University of Oregon in 2001 to oversee Counseling Services’ psychology training program and became the director in 2008. Shelly holds a bachelor of arts in communication, with a minor in business; a master of science in college student personnel, and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology.

Shelly is active in several professional organizations and her professional interests include violence risk assessment and violence prevention, multicultural issues, and college mental health. Outside of work, Shelly enjoys travel, listening to live music, and watching documentary movies.
