Luis Renteria

Luis Renteria is the senior assistant director for multicultural recruitment in the Office of Admissions. He coordinates recruitment and outreach efforts for traditionally underserved and underrepresented populations. Luis joined the University of Oregon admissions team in 2012 and has worked in higher education for 17 years. During his tenure, enrollment at the UO has reached record levels for diversity.

Before coming to the UO, Luis led multicultural recruitment efforts, campus visits, and worked extensively as a Spanish translator and athletic liaison at Eastern Oregon University for seven years. He has served on committees at the regional and state levels and presented at conferences on all these levels.

Luis is originally from Santa Ana, California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Spanish from Eastern Oregon University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. He’s a first-generation college student-athlete. His passions lie in higher education, being a mentor, boxing, football, baseball, writing and, most importantly, his family.
