Announcing Secure Electronic Transcripts

Effective Tuesday December 6, 2011, the Office of the Registrar is pleased to be able to offer Secure Electronic PDF delivery service for official transcripts. Within 18 minutes of launching the service, we had our first “real” order (as opposed to the test order that Brian Lowery ran through the system), and since that time, we continue to see orders for coming in for this new service.

The service is available through DuckWeb (for students with records in Banner – Fall 1986 and later).

How it works: The student logs into DuckWeb and navigates to the transcript order page. The student selects “Go green” Secure Electronic PDF delivery method and enters the name and email address of the recipient. The student pays the $15 expedited service fee.

Within 10 minutes, an email is sent to the recipient with a link and instructions. The recipient clicks on the link to open a web page which allows the recipient to request the password to open the document. The password is emailed to the recipient in a second email. The recipient uses the password to open the document.

These PDF transcripts can be opened a maximum of three times in a 21-day period, and then it expires (but can be re-ordered, of course).

Here’s more about going green with our Secure Electronic PDF Transcripts. Of course, the traditional official transcripts on secure transcript paper are still available, as are pick-up, rush, and rush/overnight services.

Thanks to Jim Bouse and Brian Lowery in the RO and Tim Ketchum in Information Services for their good work on this launch! Thanks to others who helped test, gave input, wrote web pages, etc., to support this roll-out.
