Ruth Rodriguez is an assistant director for regional recruitment in the Office of Admissions. She joined the University of Oregon in June 2018. She oversees California recruitment and lives in the Modesto area as a regional staff member.

Ruth has worked in admissions for 18 years and as an on-campus and regional admissions staff at four other universities. Early in her career, Ruth worked as a K–12 substitute teacher and believes that set the foundation for her career in admissions. A substitute teacher never knows what a day will bring, and admissions work is similar.

Ruth grew up in the small town of Hilmar in the Central Valley of California and enjoys working with students from her hometown. Ruth earned her bachelor of arts in La Raza studies from San Francisco State University and her master’s in Latin American studies from UCLA.  She originally planned to take a short break before starting her PhD, but fell into the world of admissions and, 18 years later, could not imagine herself doing any other job.

Ruth’s two passions are buying purses and spoiling her five niece and nephews.
