Melea Tejedas serves as the senior assistant director for regional recruitment in the Office of Admissions. She assists in developing the division’s strategic recruitment plan to bring in future Ducks. Melea oversees the regionally based admissions counselors that recruit future Ducks from all around the country. She is regionally based in Portland, Oregon, where she oversees recruitment efforts.
Melea is originally from Normal, Illinois, but has lived in Oregon for more than half her life. She attended Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon, for her undergraduate degree in international studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Portland State University in educational leadership and administration. She served on the PNACAC Executive Board as the professional development chair from 2017–2022 and served on the PNACAC Conference Planning Committee for several years. Melea has worked for the Oregon public university system for over a decade. She is very passionate about public education and increasing access to higher education for traditionally underrepresented and underserved populations.
When she’s not working, Melea loves spending time with her husband, Spencer, and young son, William. As one of eight siblings, her favorite hobby is traveling across the country to spend time with each of them and her mom, who lives in Normal, Illinois.
