Erin Hays

Erin Hays serves as an associate vice president for Student Services and Enrollment Management and director of admissions. She joined the University of Oregon in July of 2022. In her position, she oversees the work of recruitment, counseling, and operations. As a first-generation college student, Erin has a passion for serving students underrepresented in higher education and removing barriers to access.

Prior to her work at the UO, Erin worked at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, for 15 years, 12 of which as director of undergraduate admission. In her time at Gonzaga, she served on a variety of committees, including University Strategic Planning and Academic Standing. During her tenure at Gonzaga, Erin was on the National Catholic College Admission Association Board from 2013 to 2018, serving as president from 2015 to 2016.

Earlier in her career, from 2000 to 2006, Erin taught history and social studies at Eastside College Preparatory School in East Palo Alto, California. Eastside exclusively serves students historically underrepresented in higher education and boasts a 100-percent college acceptance rate.

Erin is originally from Whittier, California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s degree in education and a secondary teaching credential from Stanford University. She is an avid traveler and her other hobbies include outdoor recreation, dance classes, reading, listening to podcasts, and the occasional binge watch.
